1920
Shakespearean playing cards
designed by F.C.Tilney. All courts are characters from plays with named quotations. Non-standard pip shapes. Rev: Swans, flowers and scrolls with quotation ‘Have I not here the best cards for the game?’ from King John, plus registered design number (c.1900). 52 + J (Touchstone from As You Like It) VF with unusual side-hinged box with red leather effect covering, inside lid ‘Shakespeare Playing Cards. Schemed and Designed by FC Tilney.’ This is undoubtedly Waddington’s finest set of cards.


1930
New Era concave cards A short lived novelty as the cards were difficult to handle and did not find favour with card players. Patented in March 1929. The Ace of Spades has a date code for 1930. This set was imported into England by L G Sloan Ltd London WC2 which is stamped in gold lettering on the box. The 52 cards are in very good clean condition and the box is almost as new. A good novelty set.

1960
BA KAR EE a new and enthralling card game for 3, 4 or 6 players. Using two standard packs and extra Royal Aces this is a rare game, especially as a complete set. 52+52+8 jokers +4 blanks + score cards + rules + ba kar ee tray + box. Virtually unused condition, EF.

1980
Jacobs Bible Cards
a double set of this attractive and colourful design issued under the 'Lion' brand. The courts depict a variety of biblical characters, each one named in two languages. Each pack has 52 cards and 2 jokers. Complete with original embossed plastic case. Unused condition. EF


1980
1900 an imaginary design by Marie Christine Schira celebrating the art nouveau period in France. Courts represent various personalities engaged in the artistic endeavours of the time, such as Tiffany, Sarah Bernhardt, Gaudi. Complete set of 52 +2J +1 + booklet and original box. All in excellent condition.
