SANNA ANNUKKA-narrative/ illustration

Sanna Annukka is an illustrator and print maker, who bases her style on area such as Folklore, here style is therefore based on Narrative, which allows there to be subtle imagery and references within her work, this looks athletically pleasing, however it also becomes apparent why she has used the subtle references when one becomes aware of the stories and poems which she evolves her style around.
"Another major influence is Finland’s national epic known as The Kalevala, a collection of folklore songs that are quite simply magical. My Spring/Summer 09 collection for Marimekko depicts some of my favourite parts of the Kalevala."

this is a clever style to use or base a body of work on, as it will appeal to wide range of people, people who are drwan to the athetics of her work, it will also draw the attention of people who know of the Folklore.
